If you have a child in 5th-12th grade who is interested in auditioning for the spring production of Hairspray Jr, please read the following information carefully and complete the Audition Application below.
Audition Requirements:
Students will be required to perform a short scene of their character of choice FROM MEMORY from the production Hairspray Jr. *Upon completion of the audition application below, a Character Audition Script packet will be emailed to you.
Students will also be required to perform 32 bars of a song (preferably from the show). All songs must have background musical accompaniment (mp3 format), INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS ONLY. There will be a speaker system participants can plug ipads, phones, and ipods in to.
Tuition Fees/Schedule:
If your child is cast in the production of Hairspray Jr, a monthly tuition fee of $65 will be due the first rehearsal of every month. You will receive a reminder statement via email and can choose to pay online or you may send in the check with your child. If the monthly tuition payment is not received by the 2nd rehearsal of the month, a $10 late fee will be added to your next month’s statement, and your child will be suspended from Theater until your account balance is paid.
Our first class will be on Tuesday, October 17 from 5:15-6:15pm
Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals will be every Tuesday from 5:15-6:15pm at the Celebration Golf Club unless otherwise noted in writing. There are no rehearsals on days the school is closed for holidays. A solid commitment to this program is expected of your child in regards to coming to rehearsals on time, learning lines, routines, and songs, and participating in scheduled performances throughout the year. Should your child need to miss a rehearsal, notice must be given to me, (Ms. Crews), ahead of time.
Please note: If a student misses more than 5 rehearsals, regardless of the reason, they will be removed from musical theater and another child will be asked to replace them. Being on time for rehearsals is vital to the success of the program.
If a student is more than 15 minutes late to rehearsal, they will be marked absent. I recommend scheduling doctor’s appointments and other outside commitments on other days so that if your child gets sick, they have 5 absences they can use for those days. Each student will be receiving a Rehearsal Calendar with their weekly rehearsal schedule, non-rehearsal days, dress rehearsals and performance dates. Please refer to this calendar often.
Commitment:
It is imperative that both parents, and students understand that quitting a show half way through the production, not only puts myself, the entire cast, and show production at risk, but also jeopardizes the ability for the show to even open when scheduled, which then affects families who have made flight arrangements for other friends and family to come and see the show. PLEASE consider this very big responsibility and talk to your children about the importance of the commitment they are making year so that we can have a successful show!
Show will premier in April, 2018 (performance days/times TBD)
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all at the audition!
