Instrument Policy
DOES MY CHILD NEED TO OWN AN INSTRUMENT?
GUITARS - YES
Each student must have their own instrument for the Guitar Classes. Only Acoustic Guitars are permitted during lessons. Guitars with built-in amps are for home use only. Guitars must be the appropriate size for each student. Guitars will not be provided if a student forgets to bring their instrument to class on the day of their lesson.
KEYBOARDS - NO
Students are not required to bring a Keyboard to class as they will be able to use our keyboards. Students will need to have a keyboard at home so they are able to practice the assigned exercises, songs, and scales in order to ensure their progress in the class.
CAN I BUY AN INSTRUMENT THROUGH OPMI?
YES YOU CAN!
Guitars are available for purchase through OPMI for $ 70 and come with a case. Keyboards are available for $ 80 and include the power adapter, stand, and headphones. If you would like to purchase an instrument through OPMI, please indicate that on the registration form or
contact us and we will make sure we have your child's instrument ready for them at their first lesson. Instructors can assist will restringing, re-tuning, and basic wear and tear, but it is your child's responsibility to take care of their instrument. OPMI is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or willfully damaged instruments.
DO I NEED TO BUY A LEFT-HANDED INSTRUMENT IF MY CHILD IS LEFT-HANDED?
All keyboards are built the same, regardless of left or right handed players.
Unless your child has previously taken guitar lesson with a left-handed guitar, he / she is absolutely capable of learning guitar on a standard, right-handed guitar. If your child is more comfortable learning on a left-handed guitar, they are welcome to use one.
OPMI only provides standard right-handed guitars if you are planning on purchasing one through us.
